We bought a resale HDB flat when we got married and received $30k grant. After 6 years, we sold the HDB flat and got our current private condominium. We are considering downgrading in 3 years time to buy either EC or BTO. Can I buy still EC or BTO even though I got HDB grant before? Need to pay any resale levy? Terima kasih!

Good morning buyer,

Do take note that one can only enjoy subsidy once. Thus if you have enjoyed housing grant before (subsidised unit), you have to pay resale levy (depending you are on old or current scheme) to enjoy another subsidised unit (BTO or EC).

Another thing to take note that you can only apply for either one after you observe 30 months waiting period from the completion date of your current private condo sale.

Btw care to share why are you choosing new BTO or EC?

And if you are not willing to wait that long, probably you have to go for resale units.

Hi,

Yes you can still get EC or BTO, but a resale levy is payable since you have enjoyed subsidized housing once. Also, since you currently own a private condo, you need to wait out 30 months after selling condo, before you can apply EC or BTO again. If you go for resale or brand new private condo, you don't need to wait 30months at all. Thanks and hope to understand your requirements further so to value-add.

Morning,

As you are the current owner of private property, you will need to wait out for 30 months, after sales of your private property, before you are eligible for the new EC or BTO.
You will also be liable for resale levy based on your first subsidized unit sizing. If you are taking HDB loan, you will need to prepare 50% cash of the sales proceed on your first subsidized unit.

Hi,
Levy apply if you purchase new EC or HDB. Since you own a private condo, even after you disposed you condo, have to wait for 30 months before you could purchase a new EC.
But purchasing a resale hdb flat will not incurred any levy. Once the processing is completed, you can move in immediately, no waiting is required.
