Im a divorcee 40 years old own a private condo under my own name (sole owner) . I plan to get married to my fiance who is 35 and getting her own HDB under single scheme. After she purchase the HDB we plan to stay her place without me adding name or occupier in her HDB flat. Question 1 is after marriage can I sell my condo and purchase another private condo under my own name for investment purpose and avoid ABSD? Question 2 can I purchase a resale EC under my own name?

Hi,

Based on the limited info shared and current prevailing regulations, yes your fiance can purchase resale hdb under her own name as she currently fulfills the eligibility conditions for single Singapore citizen scheme. After marriage, as your name is not added to the hdb as owner, yes you can purchase condo under your own name after selling the condo and it will be treated as your 1st property purchase without absd, assuming you are Singaporean citizen. Resale EC is also similarly treated as private condo.

Yes you can purchase either a condo or a resale EC under your own name and avoid the Additional Buyer Stamp Duty (ABSD) as long as you time the sale and purchase correctly.
