I rented whole unit of 1bedroom condo to a single tenant. Am I obliged to give 2 access cards because I did not rent to a couple? If tenant has signed for 1 access card in the inventory list and now ask for an extra key, am I obliged to agree this request with no question asked? For the protection of my unit & security of condo, do i have the rights to ask tenant to write me a reason for this request and to agree that the extra access card is not to be misuse for unauthorized access into the condo premise? With the assurance, I will then authorize the condo management to give tenant an extra access card. Thanks to advise.

Hi, it is usual for single tenant to ask for 2 cards. Reasons are due to parents visiting them occasionally or having a part time cleaner to help tidy the place while tenant is at work or overseas. Whatever it may be, you could always ask for the reason behind it and then decide whether to give or not to.
