Good morning Sir/ Mdm,

you dont need to pay absd if you are buying a new EC cause you need to sign an undertaking letter to dispose your HDB within 6 months from TOP.

If you are buying a resale EC, your sale OTP must be exercised before you exercise your purchase so you dont have to pay absd. It's how you time your transactions concurrently.

1) There are no ABSD charges when upgrading from an HDB flat to a new EC.
2) But if you are referring to an EC that had met MOP, then it is important for you to receive an exercised OTP before making your offer.

ABSD is unavoidable, and it's an offence to evade tax.

Having said that, if you're Singaporean upgrading to a brand new EC, there's no ABSD payable.

If you're looking to purchase a resale EC, you will need to plan the Timeline of your HDB sale and condo purchase, so that you will not incur the ABSD.
