If you are considering buying resale, your choice is not limited by type, but on financial status.

Thus not only you can buy any resale EC, you also can buy any type of HDB flats or even private apartment or condominium.

You are also absolutely right that a brand new EC has an eligibility requirement according to HDB rules & regulations.

You may refer to HDB websites for different types of eligibility.

Hi,

A 5-year old resale EC is considered a semi-private property. As long as you're a Singaporean or a PR, you will be eligible to purchase such a resale unit using your single name.

If you're a foreigner, you will only be able to purchase a resale EC that has been fully privatized, i.e above 10 years old.

Alternatively, you may also purchase HDB resale flats (if you're Singaporean), and private condos (no restrictions on nationality).
