Hi, My family is currently staying in a 2nd-hand HDB flat (purchased in 2011 as SPR). I applied BTO last year (as citizen) and it would be completed in 2020. I would like to know: 1. Under the above condition, when can I buy a condo? Is it in 2020 by collecting the key, or 5 years after moving into the new HDB? 2. Is it possible to purchase a condo as two Dependent PRs? And how is the additional tax rate compare with citizen? Freya Liu

Hi Freya,

If you have booked the BTO unit, you can only purchase condo in 2025, which is after 5 years stay in the BTO when the MOP period is met.

For SPRs purchase, there is ABSD of 5% on top of the usual 3% buyer stamp duties. Do note SPRs households purchasing condos have to dispose their HDB after getting the condo keys. For SC 1st property, there is no ABSD payable.

May I have more info and requirements about your plans so to make better recommendations? Thanks and look forward to value-add to your housing plans.
