Hi all,

My hubby and I are planning to get an EC after our flat MOP next Oct. However, we did our maths and realized that we will likely exceed the ceiling by say $13-14k.

We are eyeing the ECs in the east and hopefully there will still be units available.

What's the chances of appealing to hdb?

Evening Brooklynn,

As your combined income have exceeded more than 5% of the cap, it's pointless appealing for it. Would you be keen in resale EC instead?

Do contact me for further discussion.

Thanks for your reply. For resales EC, we do not need to comply to the ceiling cap? I'm looking at east, was quite interested with Sea Horizon. Looks like it's not going to be successful for us. :(

Good evening Brooklynn,

Since your MOP is still a long way to go, HDB regulations might change by then.

If regulation stays the same by then, you can try to appeal. Never try never know. If not I am afraid you might want to consider private property instead.

If you need any assistance or advise in future, feel free to contact me. Cheers!

Good Day Ms. Ow,

Thank you for your query.
Appeal cases are considered on case by case basis by HDB, as such it is difficult to make a sweeping statement. Should you have any compelling reason such as huge/regular medical expenses or other personal hardship that contribute to the increase of your monthly expenses, then there’s no harm to push forward your appeal.

You may like to know that if your HDB is a Resale (not BTO) and the MOP ends before the expected TOP date of the new EC, you may book your unit immediately.

There’s also another seldom used avenue to reduce your monthly income and must be planned carefully. Please contact me should you like to find out more in depth or have additional query.

Thank you and have a pleasant week ahead.

Thank you for your detailed reply.

Unfortunately, mine is a BTO and I need to comply with the MOP.

I see you are selling Sea Horizon, an EC that I'm eyeing. ;)

Good evening Brooklynn,

Yes for resale EC, you don't have to comply to any income ceiling. Not sure whether any units will still be available at Sea Horizon. Let's see by then.

Hi,

Exceeding by 1-2K means the appeal chances for new EC are slim or zero. Furthermore, the only new ECs in the east side with available units will only be Sea Horizon @ Pasir Ris. For more options at the east side, I would suggest the freehold private resale condos in the flora area or a brand new condo that will TOP in the year you decide to move.

Being active in the east, I have seen my fair share of the condo developments in the east. Perhaps you like to leave your requirements so I can inform you when something suitable/or a fire-sale unit emerges? Presently, I am marketing 2 units at the Palette, which will TOP late 2015 or thereabouts. Thanks and hope to have the opportunity to work with you.

Warm regards,
