Good morning Susan,

By right with $500k and 80% bank loan, you should be able to afford a property at a potential purchase price of $2.17m.

I will sincerely advise you to apply for an in principle approval first to gauge how much bank loan can you obtain so from there you can decide whether how much do you intend to use.

Requirements of an unit and your preferred location also contribute to your budget.

Hi Susan,
It depends whether are you open to new project (under construction) or resale unit. Whether you prefer 1 or 2 bedroom units as well.
For eg. If you are ok with new launch, then you could consider Kingsford Waterbay, the 1 bedroom starts at $538k. With your funds you have as per what you mention, the amount of loan you be taking is quite minimal.
If you are looking at resale 1 bedroom, i also do have units that are in the region of $600k.
Thus, do let me know where is your preferred location, is it for own stay or you intend to rent out for rental income, no. of bedrooms, and any other requirement.

With 500k of cash and minimal loan, I would suggest you to buy a Studio or 1BR unit which is located near the MRT. It will be a worthwhile investment as properties near MRTs are able to command better rental yields and have better future capital appreciation potential.
