Hi Guru, my wife and I are both PR and we owned a property in Malaysia which we bought for my father (he aged 80 and stay in this property), so are we still eligible to purchase a re-sale HDB if we intend to keep the property under our name (as the property is still under financing)?
appreciate if you can reply as soon as possible, as we urged to purchase a HDB flat in Singapore, thank you.

Morning Bennett,

Under current regulation, as long as you do not have any property under your name, you are eligible to purchase a HDB unit, provided you meet the eligibility scheme.

Hope this answers your burning question.
Do contact me if you require further assistance.

Thanks

Dear Bennett,

Prehaps it will be good to address the following questions

1) Is it a MUST to have a HDB flat here
2) Does your father have a place to stay if you sell off your private property in Malaysia

Under the new ruling, once you purchase a HDB resale flat, you have to dispose off your private property (here or oversea) within 6 months from the completion of the HDB resale flat.

If we are able to discuss further, please let me know.
Thanks.

Hi Bennett,

Unfortunately, you would have to dispose off any properties under your and wife names here or overseas, within 6months of purchase of HDB flat.

Perhaps you might want to explore a condo instead given the high COV now?

Do let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Bernard
