When should I dispose my resale HDB, if I go for BTO and manage to secure a unit?

FYI, my current resale HDB is under bank loan, and is rented out (whole unit). We rented a small condo near my children's school.

Are we allowed to dispose our resale HDB unit within 6 months of TOP?

2) It will be good to know the current market value of your house before selling.
Selling price will be depend on level, facing, condition of unit, etc

You can sell off the existing HDB within 6 months of getting the keys of getting the new BTO. Do note a resale levy may apply if your existing flat is a subsidized flat.

Hi Calvin,

Most of my clients will choose to sell off their current HDB just before the keys collection of their BRO because they are currently staying in the unit and do not want to rent for the time being. Your case is abit unique because you are currently renting near your kid's school. For your case, you may want to consider selling the HDB after your lease has ended to take advantage of the high resale HDB price now since you have the rental place to stay.

In a few years time, HDB price may resume its downward trend and therefore you need to decide whether the rental income will outweigh the depreciation in the value of the flat. You can dispose off your HDB within 6 months of the TOP of your new house. However you might consider selling it now due to high prices of HDB at the moment and nobody know for sure when this trend will end. Moreover if your resale HDB is old (more than 20 years), it might suffer lease decay in terms of pricing in the future as there is currently restrictions placed by both HDB and CPF board with regards to purchasing a flat that could not last buyers till they are aged 95.
