Hi Ms Ho, I believe you may be a self employed. And yes, when applying for EC, the HDB will be looking at your trade income earned before minusing expenses.

As long as your combined average gross monthly household income must not exceed $12,000, you are well eligible to apply for EC. If it exceeds slightly, can try to appeal.
