What are my options for property-ownership if my fiancé owns a private property? We're not married yet and he has his own condo. I'm not including my name under his condo since I wish to own my own property as well, preferably HDB if possible but I'm under 35 now. We'll be married before I turn 35 too. Is there a way I can own a HDB under my own name?

Good morning,

Do take note that you are not eligible to buy a resale HDB under single singaporean scheme if you havent turn 35 years old.

If you decide to get a resale HDB with your fiance before turning 35 years old, he will have to dispose off his private property within 6 months from resale HDB completion date.

Have you consider private housing before?

Hope my sharing helps in aiding in your enquiry. May I know how can I value add further in your property needs?

Best regards,

YT Tan

  • So if I go for private property, me and my fiance/husband would be both allowed to own a property each? Does it make a difference whether I purchase the property before or after I get married?

Hi Ms,

If you wish to own a HDB under your name before you turn 35, the only way is to form a valid family nucleus. You can do so by getting married, or purchasing the flat with your Singaporean parents as the essential occupier.

Do take note that in both cases, your fiancé or your parents will have to sell off their existing properties latest within 6 months upon the HDB purchase.

Alternatively, you may wish to consider private property instead. There will be no such restrictions.

I am experienced and well-versed in both HDB and private transactions. I will be able to assist you in your property plans. Please get in touch with me for a more in-depth discussion.

  • Am I able to form a family nucleus with my sister instead of my parents for HDB purchase?
Hi,

1) I think you know very well the current HDB policy.
2) If you intend to own an HDB flat before 35 years old, this is not possible.
3) You may consider owning a private residential for investment instead.

Hope the above answer your main concerns, but if there are more query, please feel free to contact me at 90110636  , or email: ling.ck7@gmail.com if more information is needed.
I'll be glad to assist.
