Hi,

For this 15 month wait out period, it is based on the completion date of your private property, the date your names are legally removed from the property. Hence if your completion date is March 2023 you are looking to at June 2024 to apply the HFE. You will need to provide the completion documents (usually need to request from law firm) and provide HDB while applying the HFE. If both of you are already 55 years old and above, can purchase 4-room resale HDB right away.

    Hi Kokkeong,

    You will need the law firm completion account documents so to provide HDB documentation on the completion date for them to approve your HFE, basically to show that the 15 month period has cleared. Or you can try to appeal now by submitting a feedback form at hdb website to see if they can make exception for your case.

    Why do we still letter from the lawyer?
    We are planning to purchase HDB resale flat which is large for our family of 7, in Hougang and Punggol.
Moved out in March 2023 meaning the legal completion of your sale of private property is in March 2023? If yes, then the 15 months will be based on this date.

Calendar Months vs. Completion Date: The 15-month wait-out period is calculated based on calendar months from the completion date of the sale of your private property. This means even if you moved out in March 2023, the official sale completion date might have been slightly later, pushing the 15-month mark beyond April 2024.

System Delay: There could be a slight delay in the HDB system updating your eligibility status.

Here's what you can do:

Contact HDB: The most reliable way to clarify your situation is to contact HDB directly. You can call their hotline at 6100 1000  or visit their service center. They can access your records and confirm if your wait-out period is truly over.

Recheck Sale Completion Date: Double-check your sales agreement or closing documents to verify the exact completion date of the sale of your private property. This will help you calculate the exact end date of the 15-month wait-out period.

Retry HDB e-Services: After a few days, try applying for the HFE Letter (Housing & Development Board Estate Eligibility Letter) again on the HDB e-Services platform. The system might have updated by then.

If contacting HDB confirms that your wait-out period is indeed over, but the system still shows you within the wait-out period, they might be able to assist you in troubleshooting the e-Services platform.
