Hi,

1) To buy a property in Singapore the best way is to engage a real estate agent to assist and advise on your purchase.
2) There are 2 major factors to determine your purchase:
(a) Budget
(b) Objective in this purchase

3) Budget: If prepare to pay all in cash, then just need to look into your saving to determine which to buy.
But there are situations where you prefer to keep your cash for other purposes than pouring it into a property. So you need someone to do a financial assessment for you.
4) Objective in this purchase: Most people will think I just buy to stay, what else? In fact, due to the situation in Singapore. Due to the scarcity of land, most purchases will return with a gain when sold.
Thus it is a waste of resources if this was not determined right from the beginning and think all properties are the same. Sad to say that not all properties make a profit when sold.

5) A real estate agent will assess your needs and budget and be able to propose something that could fulfill your budget and objective.
6) Lastly there is no capital appreciation tax or inheritance tax in Singapore.
