Best choices are different for different buyers with different commitments and priorities. By selecting SOBF and new EC, sometimes luck also plays a part where you need that ticket in order to book a unit, which sometimes run out of luck. Resale could be a better and more certain option for a household as they are more predictable.

Hi, moving forward, most people feel or think that HDB is no longer an asset unlike the past. And for instance, you could potentially only earn 100k for selling a BTO unit when it reaches its MOP while an EC could fetch you a profit of 300k. So I would suggest that you could drop by EC showflat too and keep your option and mind open. My company is currently marketing Sol Acres EC which is near to CCK MRT. In my humble opinion, EC is a better choice as the upside potential is greater as compared to a HDB flat. Straits Times carried an article in Mar this year on a study done on the past EC transactions. It has shown that majority EC owners are able to make a tidy profit when they sell after 5 years. Hi,

Speaking from a personal opinion, I chose SOBF in Queenstown close to 5 years ago, and did not regret my decision. Today, my "mark-to-market" profits is likely to be in the range of $200k.

However, prices for SOBF today is different from 5 years ago. I am quite skeptical if you go for SOBF today, will you be able to profit the same as what I have done 5 years ago.

Moreover, SOBF is very highly sought after, and it really takes huge amount of good luck to be able to get a good ballot number for you to choose a good unit in SOBF.

Next, looking at potential of ECs, no doubt there is potential upside, as they say, ECs is only for the privileged Singaporeans. In 2013, Minister Khaw Boon Wan likens ECs to buying "Lexus cars at Corolla prices." And history shows first time EC owners making profits after serving 5 years MOP. From what I know till date, there is not a single loss-making transaction for first-time owners of EC.

Be it what you choose in the end, I think you have to be happy with your choice. There are still plenty of opportunities in the future awaiting you and your wife.

Perhaps you could share more on your exact requirements and finances on hands to conduct a financial progressive payments to asses which development itself will be best to consider and propose unit layouts accordingly.
