My spouse have a private property oversea that was inherited from grandparent years ago (currently property under 3 person name including him). May I check if we are eligible to purchase BTO Flats?

Base on regulations, no. Your spouse will be required to dispose the interest in that property and wait out for a period of 30 months before you are eligible for BTO application. You may try to put in an appeal though and see the outcome.

Hi Mdm,

If your spouse has shares in an overseas residential property under his name, then under the current HDB rules and regulations, he will need to sell off or transfer away his share and then wait out a 30 months period before he is eligible to buy a new BTO flat.

1) The main question is what type of private property you are referring to?
2) If this is a residential property, then your spouse has to dispose of his interest in the property and observe a 30-month wait-out period before applying for the HFE.
3) If this is a commercial/industrial, then you are eligible to apply for an HFE with your spouse for the BTO application.
