My partner has a private property under her name. After we get married, are we eligible to get an HDB if we put her name as an Essential Occupier? Does she need to dispose her private property even if her status is Essential Occupier of the HDB flat?

Yes, she will be required to dispose her private condo within 6 months from taking possession of the HDB.

Hi,

Yes all owners and essential occupiers of the hdb application need to dispose all their local and overseas private property within 6 months after the resale completion of the hdb.

Yes she will need to sell off her private property within 6 months even when she is just an Essential Occupier to the flat. This is because the essential occupier will be subjected to the 5 years Minimum Occupation Period and during this time, she will not be able to purchase or hold a private property.

Yes, both of you can purchase a resale HDB with her name as the essential occupier. However, as an essential occupier, she will also have to dispose off her interest in the private property latest within 6 months upon the purchase of the HDB flat. Both of you (owner and essential occupier) will also need to serve a 5-year MOP because you can purchase another residential property.

Yes You can get a HDB with your partner but your partner needs to disposed off her private property within 6 months from the date of acquisition. In addition, you will also not be eligible for housing grants. If you are above 35, I would suggest purchasing as a single to avoid from these complications.
