My mum and I jointly own our current HDB flat. It was a resale flat when we bought it. No MOP. The flat is fully paid up. Can my mum withdraw her name from the current HDB to apply/buy another flat under her own name?

Hi

If you are single singaporean citizen 35 years old and above, yes you can keep the existing HDB under your own name, and she can potentially remove hers to purchase another HDB (assuming hdb approves, and she is divorced or widowed). Do note you have to refund her cpf utilized + accrued interest used for this hdb so she can exit.

You will need to ensure that you are eligible to retain the flat on your own and your mum is eligible to purchase a flat on her own including financial capacity. This is possible. Read More

Hi,

1) You must be eligible to keep the flat by yourself (SC & 35 yrs and older) before your mum is allowed to withdraw her name from the current flat.
2) You must meet the 5 years MOP before allowed to do a part-share sale or transfer of shares.
3) Your mum can do a transfer of her share or sell her share to you via the part-share sale.
4) She will be allowed to apply/buy another flat under her name.
