My husband has lived in the current HDB for past 20 years, co-owned with his mother. Since we wed, we bought over his mother's 50% share of the flat. What is the eligibility to purchase a private property?

Morning Isabella,

That would depend on when you have done the part purchase. The MOP requirement will be calculated from that particular date.

Do feel free to contact me if you require further assistance.

Hi Isabella,

I assumed you bought over the 50% share from your husband's mother. This action is given the same treatment (by hdb) as a new purchase and you (and hubby) will be bound by the MOP period starting on the day of completion of your current flat.

Do bear in mind that you will be bound by the new ABSD and SSD rules announced in recent cooling measures when buying your next property. Read More
