My court hearing will be on 2 Dec. My lawyer advised that for uncontested divorce, the interim court order will usually be ready in one week. And the final court order will be +3 months, ie mid Mar'15. An agent, who is ex-husband's brother, says that the earliest to market my HDB is mid Mar and takes avg 2 months (May) to sell. He advise me to get a house only after that, and will end up moving end of the year (2015!), due to longer processing for contra case. I wish to get a resale in Tampines, near my kids' school. I have sole care and control of my 2 boys and wish to move out as soon as possible, preferably by Mar or Jun school holidays. Is there any way to speed up the process? Can divorcee do contra? Is it true that only one party can do contra?

Evening,

Since the divorce will not be contested, you should roughly know what the interim judgement would be like. However, to purchase a unit on your own as divorcee, we will need the court order before you can exercise for your purchase. Given that the S&P process takes around 4 month, you are only likely to move in, without renovation, during mid to late July.

I read that only one party can do contra. My ex-husband wants to buy a unit on his own after he turns 35 mid year, if he succeed in his contra, does it mean that i cannot do contra on the same matrimonial house? Who is the "one party" referring to? My ex-husband and I - only one of us, or the buyer of my house and me as a seller of the matrimonial flat?
