My bf owns a resale hdb, formed nucleus with his parents and already met MOP. We are getting married and to buy EC. What is the procedure? And after we get married, do I need to include my name in the current HDB?

Hi,

Firstly, if your fiance's name is currently in his HDB, at point of application before booking EC unit, he will be required to declare to HDB whether before collecting keys to EC, he will

a) transfer his part-share of ownership to remaining HDB owners (parents) so they can keep the HDB flat

b) or they will sell the HDB unit and the whole group will be moving to the new EC.

Basically the idea is that, if you are purchasing an EC for own stay, you cannot concurrently own another HDB. Thanks and hope it clarifies. For other application matters, I will be glad to further value-add and clear all your doubts.

May I know which EC are you currently looking at? Hope to have the opportunity to understand your requirements further so to share with you the projects that suits your needs. Thanks!

Warm regards,

Hi Ivan, thanks for the reply. After we get married, his current hdb will be status quo? Do I need to add my name as occupier? And if I opt to co-own the hdb then the 5yr MOP will start from the date I co-own right?
Hi Jenny, basically you and your fiancé can only keep either EC or the hdb unit. You can't own both of them at the same time.

Evening Jenny,

Are both of you looking at getting BTO EC or resale EC that have being privatised? If you are looking at BTO EC, your spouse will be required to either remove the ownership from the HDB unit by performing partial sales to his parents or sell the unit in the open market, provided MOP have being fulfilled.
You do not need to be included into the ownership status of the HDB unit but if you spouse do intend to sell the HDB unit, he will need to obtain your consent to sell.

DO feel free to contact me for further discussion.
