Hi Winston,

For private property transaction, buyers are not required to pay a commission as the seller's agent will be sharing his or her commission with the buyer's agent. This is in accordance to market practice, but if you feel that the agent did a very good job and secure the unit for you at a good price, you are free to pay him or her as well.

It is good to engage an agent to assist you in your purchase so that your interests is being safeguarded. Please feel free to contact me if you need further assistance.

Hi Winson,

That's a no for private or commercial property transactions; however if you got an agent to represent you for a HDB purchase, you'd have to pay agent fees.

Feel free to contact me at your convenience, and we can carry on from there.

YT Tan (陈永达)
Good afternoon Winson,

Well it depends which type of housing you are purchasing.

If you are buying a resale HDB, you will have to pay me 1% of purchase price plus 7% GST.

As for private purchase, usually I will obtain my share from seller's agent or developer.

Hope my sharing is beneficial to your property purchase.

May I know how can I continue to value add in this purchase?

Warmest Regards,

HDB Transactions:
When purchasing an HDB (Housing and Development Board) flat, a 1% buyer’s agent commission applies. This means that if you engage a property agent to assist you in buying an HDB flat, you’ll need to pay them a commission equivalent to 1% of the transaction price.
Having an agent can be beneficial as they can represent your interests, guide you through the process, and provide valuable insights into the market.
Private Properties (Condos, etc.):
For private properties (such as condos), there is typically no buyer’s agent commission payable. Buyers do not need to pay a commission to their agent when purchasing private properties.
However, even in private property transactions, having an agent can still be advantageous. They can help analyze the market, negotiate on your behalf, and provide professional advice.
Remember that whether you choose to engage an agent or not, it’s essential to make informed decisions based on your specific needs and preferences. Read More
