Hi Karim, if you are referring to HDB, it needs to be done together. It is often referred to as contra. That way you do not need to fork out additional money at the initial stage of the purchase.
If you are referring to private property, it is always more prudent to all first before making the purchase. Because if you can put a term in the purchase that you require the buyer to allow you to rent the property for a period of time after completion to allow you more time to find a suitable home.
