I'm a single divorced parent with care and control. Matrimonial home was an EC that was disposed earlier this year. I would like to purchase another EC with the children to form a family nucleus. Income is above $7k. I understand there is a waiting period to purchase another EC, but given the situation, can I appeal? How successful are appeals in these cases?

Hi,

You may wish to consider resale EC which has met 5 years MOP, that will not require any appeal as you can just purchase under your sole name without any family nucleus.

By the way, appeal case as such is usually very slim but you could always try and at the same time do consider a resale EC or a condo also so that you and your children are able to move into the new property soonest.

Dear sir/mdm,

All appeals will be considered on a case by case basis and it is very likely that you will be subjected to resale levy should you be successful in your appeal for a 2nd time purchase of EC direct from developer. I do not have any precedent case to reference on this but what Ivan has propose will likely make more sense, in that to look into ECs that have recently obtained their MOP. Price point should be more attractive than looking into new ECs. There are quite a number of ECs that have obtained their MOP recently or will be obtaining their MOP soon for your considerations.

Do you mean to buy another new EC? If you are buying resale EC that had passed the 5 years MOP period, you are able to buy as a single applicant.

For buying of new EC, regardless of the success chances i think you should write in to appeal since there are no disadvantages to you. If successful, you will be able to buy an EC. If not, you can then explore other options.
