Hi, for resale HDB, you are required to fulfill a Minimum Occupation Period of 5 years i.e. physically occupy it unless you and your family have to relocate overseas for work / study.

Afternoon Raphl,

Upon key collection of your unit, you are required to fulfill the MOP before HDB will give you approval for rental of whole unit. Alternatively, as per Wee Ling's statement, oversea assignment will allow special permission to rent prior MOP.

Problem is: why would you want to keep your HDB empty and pay to rent a condo for staying? You are spending on both ends, right?
