I'm 32, and my salary is $9.5k/month now and my wife is not working and taking care of the 2-year old kid. We are both PRs and will be eligible to buy HDB only in 1 year's time. What's the best strategy for us? Wait and buy HDB or buy Condo, or convert to SC and buy HDB/Condo? Any advice?

Do you want to earn a lot of money or just hope that I sell without lost.

HDB is at all time high. Do you think the prices can go up further if yes, Private will go higher. We just need a roof over our head and make sure our saving do not go wasted.

Hi,
Govt announce on 27-Aug-13 that new PR will have to wait for 3 years before being able to buy a resale HDB flat. You are one of the many that are affected by this new ruling.
1) So from now till 1 year later, will there be any new additional guidelines? Nobody knows.
2) Opportunity Cost of owning your own house. (min 1 year as of now and expose to possible new ruling governing HDB that might potentially defer your dream of buying your own house as a result servicing others instead of your own mortgage loan.)
3) what kind of ppty do you aspire to stay or own? if you aspire to own a condo or want your family to stay in a condo in the future then the next qns is can you afford the condo prices now?
4) What is your view on the ppty market now and next year? (HDB or Condo). Anyway falling COV does not necessarily equates to falling price.
There are many other factors to consider too. If you would like to discus further you could contact me via mobile or email.
