If my husband (SPR) and myself (SPR) would like to buy our first house (resale HDB) in Singapore, do we need to sell away our house in Malaysia? Can we still be the bank guarantor for our brother who wanted to buy a house in Malaysia, will it affect us to buy HDB in Singapore?

Good morning buyers,

Just to take note as SPR household, to be eligible to purchase resale HDB both of you need to be SPR for at least 3 years respectively.

Have you guys fulfill 3 years?

If you purchase a resale HDB, you have to dispose off interest in your malaysian property within 6 months from purchase completion date. Usually my buyers will transfer to their family members.

Lastly usually mortgage taken from overseas banks will not affect your mortgage application in Singapore so not to worry, probably can speak to my bankers on this.

Hi,

For SPR households, both SPR need to fulfil 3 year SPR status before they can purchase. They also need to remove ownership from overseas property after they purchase resale hdb.

Usually if you are guarantor for overseas banks property loan, it shouldn't affect your property loan application in Singapore. Best to speak to my banking partners so to give you a better idea based on your circumstances. Thanks and hope to assist further.

Afternoon,

Since both of you are SPR, you must have being holding to it for more than 3 years to be eligible for the purchase of HDB resale unit. As for overseas properties, as long as neither of your names have being included into the ownership, it would not inflinge with HDB regulation.
