If I purchase a resale HDB flat and after my MOP of 5 years, can I apply to HDB to convert part of the master bedroom’s space into a balcony like some of the units in the block that were originally built with balcony in their master bedroom?

Hi,

1) You don't have to wait for 5 yrs to apply for a renovation permit. You can submit your application once you attended the completion appointment.
2) Your application most likely will be approved as long as your renovation work does not affect the main structure of the whole building,
