Good morning Sir,

I am afraid to inform you that its not possible for your wife to own a new EC by herself.

Buying a new EC is like owning a new BTO, you need to fulfill eligibility conditions.

You need a family nucleus in order to apply which in turn she alone is not sufficient. She needs to apply with YOU thus you will have to sell off your HDB eventually once new EC is ready for occupation.

But there will not be such restriction if she opts to buy a resale private, resale EC after MOP, new private or landed instead.

Hi Sir,

Yes, she can purchase a brand new EC as long as both of you had not utilized 2 times subsidized housing.

Do take note that you will be required to be named as an essential occupier of the EC. This means that you will be required to sell off your current HDB flat latest 6 months from the TOP of the brand new EC. Both of you can continue to stay in your current flat for the next 4-5 years, until the EC TOPs.
