Typically the market rate for sale is 2% of the transacted price + GST. It is a full fledged one stop solution, includes viewing, negotiation and entire process assistance etc.

Commission is negotiable, and the market rate is 2%. In my opinion, it is best to focus on closing at the best possible price, rather than haggle over small monies (1-2% commission), and then sell at low price. They always say, you pay peanuts, you get monkeys, I find this statement very true.

In today's market, you can easily find agents offering discounts on commission, some as low as 0.5% commission, you will have to ask yourself, how motivated are they to help you achieve a record price?

In my opinion, it is highly recommended that you can engage an agent whom have a good track record in transacting in record prices. If he can get you a good price for your property, the 2% that you're paying is well worth it.

I am experienced and well-versed in HDB resale transactions. My area of focus is in Central/Queenstown/Bukit Merah region, and I am blessed to have transacted several "million-dollar" HDB flats over the past 1-2 years, with many others in the $900k+ range. I have managed to set record prices for many of my units, most recently selling a 3RM flat at a record price of $590k.

Market rate is 2% + GST. But some owners are willing to pay even higher commission as the agent are able to achieve record pricing above their expected price. Totally agree with Robbie, you pay peanuts, you get monkey. Would you rather pay a little more and be rest assured that your property is in good hand ??
