I own a resale flat with my wife in Jurong, and is considering for new BTO or EC. Current house is under CPF Grant and Proximity Grant for Resale.
Am I still eligible for New BTO ? are the ballot chances same as first timer BTO Applicant ? Am I still entitled to any grants for BTO or EC ?

Hi Yangzhen,

May I know if your MOP of 5 years are met? If so, you can look around for the next residential property. As you have taken 1st timer housing grants for the hdb resale, it is considered your 1st subsidized flat, and hence you are considered 2nd timer status for the next BTO or new EC application. This means a resale levy is applicable upon the sale of your 1st subsidized flat (current Jurong property). There will not be any other grants for the new BTO or new EC.

I would like to compliment Mr Ivan Ng for his professional work and effort.I sent my first post in Jan 2019 and Ivan replied promptly, so I have decided to contact Ivan for follow up. My EC was not ready for sale due to MOP (another 3 months from Jan) at that time and Ivan was able to give me advices on how to proceed from there. Initially we have decided to try to write to HDB for early sale but since it was only 3 months left, eventually we waited for another 3 months while we looked for our next property. Ivan was able to arrange for new property showroom appointment at a timely manner while helping us to list for our EC for sale. Good evening yangzhen,

you will be considered second timer if you wish to apply for BTO or new EC as you had enjoyed subsidy (CPF housing grant) in your existing flat. You will be subject to resale levy if you wish to proceed with this plan, you wont be eligible for any grants.

If you are getting BTO, your chances will be lower than first timer.

In view of your question- you will be a considered 2nd timer for the next BTO or new EC application as you have taken the 1st timer housing grants for the HDB resale. This means a resale levy is applicable upon the sale of your Jurong flat and there will not be any other grants for the new BTO or new EC.

Hi Yangzhen,

As you had utilised your CPF Housing Grant, you will be considered as a second-timer. The chances of getting a ballot number is much much slimer than a first-timer.

Should you be lucky enough to get a ballot number and choose a unit, you will not be eligible for any more Grants. Instead, you will need to pay a resale levy (in Cash) upon the sale of your current flat. The amount of resale levy payable is dependent on your flat type.

This works the same for application of brand new EC. You will also need to pay a resale levy.
