I own a private condo, sole ownership and should be paid off within 10 year's time.
Is it possible for my husband to purchase a hdb flat to rent it out for rental income and possible retirement home for us in 10 years time?

Hi, it will not be possible for your husband to purchase a HDB flat on his own , as your name is required for him to form a family nucleus, and will have to dispose of your private property before being able to purchase a HDB flat.

Alternatively, if your budget allows, perhaps you can consider another private property as investment. For retirement home, based on current laws, if you are 55 by then , you can dispose of your private property and immediately move into a 4room or smaller HDB flat without a wait out period, which may suit you guys.

Hi,

Unfortunately no, HDB requires a family nucleus so both your names need to be added to be eligible, which means you have to sell off the private property. He can purchase private property on his sole name no issue.

Hi,

Unfortunately under the current policy you can only acquire another HDB property on the condition that you dispose of your current one within six months. Alternatively, if your budget allows, it might be prudent to explore purchasing another private property for investment purposes under your wife's name.

If you intend to retain the existing condo, the plan will not be feasible, as you will be required to form the family nucleus in order for your husband to purchase the HDB. Hope this helps.
