I have signed my lease of agreement for a BTO in Ang Mo Kio, completion date 2018. But my neighbour wants to sell their flat and I hope to purchase it so I can stay right next to my parents. Will HDB look into my case if I would like to cancel my BTO to purchase the resale right next door to my parents? Will HDB choose not to forfeit my deposit for my reasons?

We can write in to HDB and appeal your case, subjected to providing them with the evidence. As for the deposit, it's likely to be gone.

Morning Mr Wei,

Indeed it is a rare chance that you can just stay right beside your parents. I would recommend that you write in to HDB and do it soonest. As appeals like this takes time and you may not know whether your neighbour is in a hurry to sell. Do have a talk with your neighbour too.

With regards to your deposit, we really cannot advise on whether it will be forfeited. According to black and white, by right it will be forfeited. Just try to appeal for it and see how it goes. If you need any more advice, just feel free to drop me a call. No obligations.
