Yes, you can still apply for the Enhanced CPF Housing Grant (EHG) before key collection, as long as your flat hasn’t been completed and you haven’t collected the keys yet. HDB will reassess your eligibility based on your most recent income and employment situation when you submit the grant application.

That said, HDB’s rule for EHG requires that you (and your co-applicant, if any) have at least 12 months of continuous employment at the point of application. A confirmed job offer or future employment bond unfortunately doesn’t count toward this 12-month period — the income needs to be earned.

So, in your case, if you’ll only be working for 5–8 months before key collection, you wouldn’t meet the full 12-month requirement yet. You can, however, inform HDB of your situation closer to completion and they’ll advise if there’s flexibility in timing, but generally, they’ll go by strict policy.

There’s no specific “deadline” per se, but the EHG must be applied for before key collection. Once you’ve collected the keys, you’re no longer eligible to add the grant retroactively.

If you expect to start work soon, just keep all employment records and payslips ready — you might be able to qualify if your construction is slightly delayed or key collection gets pushed back. Read More
