Hi Ms,

Your husband can purchase the HDB under his sole name, but will need to include you as the essential occupier for the HDB flat.

As an essential occupier, you are not supposed to have an interest in a private property. Hence, you will need to sell off your shares in the private property within 6 months of completion of the HDB flat purchase.

One thing to note, your husband need not wait till he is 35 years old before buying the HDB. He can buy anytime, with you as the essential occupier.

Should you need any further assistance in matters relating to property, please contact me at my mobile 9748 6305  . I will be happy to assess and share with you the possibilities for you in the current market.

Thank you.

Best regards,
Robbie Chen

Hi,

He can't purchase hdb on his sole name as both of you are considered one household and married entity. Thus you will need to buy under public scheme instead, which means you have to dispose your private property ownership once you do that.

May I have more info and requirements about your plans so to make better recommendations? Thanks and look forward to value-add to your housing plans.

Warm Regards,

Morning,

As you and your husband are married, HDB consider both of you as an entity. Should your husband opt to purchase a HDB unit, your name will be required as essential occupier, at the minimum. This will result in the need for you to remove your ownership status on your existing property.
