I am looking to buy landed house. The agent said some part of the land will be taken by government for road reserve

when the government eventually acquire the Road Reserve land from the property owner, will the government compensate the property owner? If yes, how to determine the compensation?

This should be under the Land Acquisition Act, therefore you may refer to this https://www.sla.gov.sg/properties/acquisition-of-land.

If you are intending to redevelop this property, then you will need to take note that the road reserve part will need to be surrendered immediately. My understanding is that for such cases, there will be no compensation.

Also, landed homes affected by road reserve are usually facing the main road, thus such characteristics may present objection from purchasers in future should you decide to sell it.
