I am currently financing (about $100K more to go) a HDB 5- room flat in Hougang though I have fulfilled the MOP. I would like to buy a 2-3 bedroom unit at the new Ecopolitan or Waterbay. Cpf funds is about $50K and cash at hand is about $100K. Can I afford it?

Hi Karen,

The resale price of a 5-room flat in Hougang is around $500k to $700k. As for EC, the price for a 2-bedder is about $600k & a 3-Bedder is about $700k.

You need to standby 20% for the deposit & Stamp Duty which is about $140k for a 2-bedder & $160k for a 3-bedder, then the rest of 80% by bank loan.

Based on what you have given, you seem to be able to afford to upgrade to EC.
