I am a seller of a resale HDB unit. Buyer had originally requested for a 2 weeks delay of HDB completion date which I agreed to, and HDB gave us the date which the buyer and I had agreed to. Now, they want to further delay it by 2.5mths from the date that was originally mutually agreed to. In other words, there is a total delay of 3mths. The 2nd delay is due to their oversight of a legal document that is needed to fulfill the sale of a property which they need to sell in order to get the funds to finance the HDB unit that I am selling them.
In the intiital discussion, it was made known to me that they need to occupy the HDB unit urgently, hence I did not ask for any extension of stay and had in fact, moved out 2 weeks earlier from the 1st delayed HDB completion date. Now, the HDB unit is vacant and I have to continue paying for the installment and S&C Charges.
In this instance, besides getting them to pay for the mthly installment and S&C charges, and the rental of the place I currently am staying at (I could have moved in 2 mths later instead), are there any other compensation I can seek from them? Is it still legally my right to do so? There are actually other implications for this long delay. Appreciate all your advice. Thank you
