I am a PR, can I purchase a resale HDB with my husband as co-owner who is also a PR? It has been less than 6 months since we have converted to PR from employment pass. Both of us are earning, is there a cap on the income, for buying a 3 room HDB?

Morning Shweta,

As both your spouse and you are currently PR, you are eligible to purchase resale HDB unit of any sizes, dependent on your budget and income status. Since you will be taking Bank loan for the purchase, there will not be any income ceiling on your purchase. However, do note that if either of you have private properties, locally or overseas, you are required to sell them within 6 months from key collection date. Do also note that since both of you are PR, it would be better to hunt for units in newer estates or units that are not affected by lift upgrading or Home Improvement Programme.

Do feel free to contact me if you require further assistance.

Hi Shweta,

There's no issue in buying a HDB resale 3room flat since both of you are SPR.

As both of you had just converted to SPR not long ago, this means your CPF OA is only minimum too.

Do note that it will be good if you have a banker so that he/she can help you on the in-principle approval on the housing loan eligibility.

Do give me a call if you need my non-obligatory advice on procedure and most important on detailed financial planning before you do any purchase.
