Good morning Kevin,

both of you are eligible to purchase a resale EC together BUT only those that had privatised (obtained TOP for more than 10 years) as you are a foreigner.

If your spouse opts to buy under her sole name, she can look at those resale EC that are younger (5 years old and above).

Summary:
EC up to 10 years old: only SC and SPR eligible to buy
EC beyond 10 years old: open to any including foreigner

Hi,

For resale EC 5 to 10 years, only SC spouse can purchase.

For resale EC 10 years above, its fully privatized so can buy together as foreigners will also be eligible. Can also be eligible for ABSD remission if legally married and fulfilling IRAS criteria.

For ECs that is between 5-10 years old, only your spouse will be eligible as a single owner. If you are looking at 10 years and above EC, which is considered fully privatised, yes, you will be eligible and if this is your first property, you can apply for ABSD remission since it will be your first matrimonial home provided that both of you are co-owners of the property.
