Asked by
I am a female Singapore citizen.

I am marrying a non-citizen and moving to his country for a few years, but might return to Singapore.

My friends recommend that before I leave, I buy a resale flat and rent it out. They insist that it's possible to do this, but what I have read indicates that my spouse MUST have a long-term visitor pass for us to buy a HDB flat. I am curious why my friends think this way, especially when 2-3 different people tell me this. Are they right or mistaken?

Morning,

If you are above 35 years old, your spouse would need at least social visit pass of at least 6 months from date of submission of application. After the purchase, to rent out the entire unit is subject to HDB approval, based on your reasons and evidence.
