You as a single, 35 years old, are eligible to BTO; 2-rm flexi or resale HDB under Single Citizen Scheme.
The above is based on the presumption that you are a Singapore Citizen (Do note there are no scheme for Single Permanent Resident, SPR).
With a specific budget is good, but also need to check your cash availability.
To buy a BTO, your cash outlay is such:
(1) Application submission: $10
(2) Option fee : $500 (for 2-rm flexi) can be reimbursed using CPF if there are sufficient amount in the OA account.
To buy resale, your cash outlay is such:
(1) Option + exercise : $5,000
(2) Resale application : $80
(3) Valuation : $120
(4) Cavest and misc : $200+
Thus if your cash is not ready, then it is better to apply for BTO, and wait patiently.
To buy resale, with $300k budget, your choice would be a 3-rm flat or even 4-rm flat dependent on the location, level, condition of the unit.
