I a recently divorced mom of a 9year old daughter. I would like to purchase a flat from HDB as i m currently staying with my parents. When i called up HDB , they said that i would have to return the levy that i took when purchased my first marital home which was a 5rm resale 11 years ago. We sold the house 3 years ago on open market as my ex had many debts to pay and since he was not working properly after marriage he owed HDB a sum of money and thus we had to sell to payback HDB too..My only option now is to either buy resale or return levy ..But both options will involve alot of money ... where am i suppose to get that much money. When i took the levy first time i did not expect my marriage will end and things wil turn out such I dont earn much ... Why is the government making it so difficult for single parents to own a house

Hi Ms Sandra Mitchell,

Other than seekingyour MP's assistance, have you done your loan eligibility to know the amount of loan that you can undertake as well as youramountof cash and CPF that can be utilised for this purchase? I can try to source for units with low COV and negotiate for you, provided that you do not mind its conditions and undertake some minor renovations before moving in.
