Hi, we planned to buy maisonette flat in jurong,my husband enquire about that to agent.he advised not to buy,because maisonette flats leasing year is low.what can we do.my husband said don't want,but I'm interested. Suggest me please

The professional opinion your husband has seek does make sense in that lease decay is 1 of the top concern for many buyers out there, however, it is not a concern for your family that the value of property may decline over time due to the lease decay issue, then an executive maisonette is definitely something nice to purchase into, given that space is of premium, with great privacy where bedrooms are located on the level 2 of unit. In fact, the value retention for executive maisonettes seems to be strong too, given that many landed home owners who are looking to downgrade often opt for moving into an executive maisonette, without the need to take up a housing loan.

There is no right or wrong here, it really depends on your family's needs and expectations. While the lease decay is true for older properties, that doesn't mean that it will be a bad purchase for you and your family.

Executive Maisonettes are rare, as HDB does not build these flats anymore. Hence, these flats have their own unique draws, and would attract Buyers who fancies 2-storey living areas.
