Hi there,

We bought a resale HDB in 2011, from what we understand, we would not be able to purchase any property until 2016.

Our question is, can we buy property that TOP by 2016 or no property transaction until 2016?

Hi Light Hunter,

Strictly no property purchase by 2016, 5 years from the key collection date of your HDB.

If you exercise an option to purchase a property that will TOP in 2016 from now to 2016, it will fall within your 5 years MOP so you cant buy till 2016.

Dear Light Hunter,

If you are looking at investment point for the next purchase, you can probably look into purchasing a commercial or industrial property. As mentioned by my fellow professionals, residential properties is strictly no-no until your MOP is met, regardless when the TOP is.
