Hi Glenn,

Yes you can include your mum as the owner, but your wife also needs to be the owner or essential occupier. As HDB deems both you and your spouse as the married entity family nucleus once both of you are legally married.

Your wife has to be included in the purchase as both of you are married.

3 of you can be owners if not you and wife be owners while mom as occupier if not you as sole owner while wife as essential occupier and mom as occupier.

Yes, you can still purchase a HDB flat with your Mother after your marriage. You form a valid family nucleus with your Mother and your Wife under Public Scheme. Your Wife can be either a co-owner or an essential occupier.

Hi Glenn,

1) There is no difference when you intend to purchase a resale HDB flat with your mum before and after marriage.
2) The only thing to note is your wife has to be an essential occupier, (just an occupier when submitting your resale application). The system will identify her as an essential occupier since she is married to you.
3) The meaning of it is you will need her consent when selling the flat, but she has no ownership of it.
