Hi, my sister previously bought a BTO with her then husband. They got divorced and then after a certain period, they sold off the BTO and split the proceeds. She has been single for some time now and wishes to buy a flat. Is she still eligible to buy a BTO as a 40s single woman?

Good morning,

your sister can purchase a 2RM flexi BTO flat if she is eligible to do so under Single Singapore Citizen Scheme.

Do take note that she has to pay resale levy (should be 50%) cause it will be her second subsidised flat purchase.

Hi,

1) Your sister is entitled to apply for a 2nd BTO without question.
2) Note that since she is applying for it alone, she is only eligible to apply for a 2-rm flat (99yrs leasehold).
3) If she is applying for the 2nd HDB loan, she will have to reduce the loan by putting in 50% of the cash proceeds from the BTO sale received.
4) She is also subject to a resale levy.
5) Both the 50% cash proceeds and the resale levy must be paid using cash only and settled at the point of key collection of the BTO.
