Hi, my bf sold his 4-room flat which he purchased with his ex-wife about 4 or 5 years ago. We are now thinking of getting married and have applied for a BTO flat under the fiance/fiancee scheme. He also has full custody of his 9 year old daughter.

Is there any way possible for HDB to waive off the resale levy based on this circumstance? I understand from HDB website that a 40K resale levy is applicable here. But considering this situation, is there anyway it can be waived off especially since the profits of the flat was so many years ago and most possibly split with his ex-wife...

Afternoon,

If the previous unit was purchased with housing grant or directly from HDB, it's very unlikely for the levy to be waived.

Hi,

From my best understanding, the HDB will not waived the levy and for the best, you can check with the HDB how much your bf will need to pay for the levy when both of you are getting the BTO.
