As mentioned by my fellow professionals, you will have to fulfill MOP first before you can ink on the OTP for your purchase.
Do take note that you have to sell your HDB within 6 months from the purchase completion as both of you are SPRs.

There is provision of maximum 3 months extension after the completion of your HDB for you to stay on while the renovation works progresses for your purchase of condo if there is any need. The extension period should be agreeable by the purchaser of your HDB. The above is based on the existing regulations for HDB sale.
With such arrangement, there should be enough time frame to get all things moving as per your plans. If your finances allow, you may also make your move in the purchasing once your buyer exercises the Option to Purchase for your HDB.
Nevertheless, it is still quite premature to start looking around but more importantly getting your finances ready when 2018 arrives.
