Hi, me and my wife are SPR and we currently own and stayed at condo in Singapore. In a few months, both of us will be fully converted to Singaporean. After become Singaporean, May I ask:
1) Are we eligible to purchase a BTO if we sell our condo?
2) Are we eligible to purchase new project EC after we sell our condo?

Good morning,

You will need to sell off your condo first, wait out 30 months, before you can be eligible to apply for new BTO or new EC. As this is one of the eligibility conditions.

Alternatively if you cannot wait out 30 months, you can consider resale HDB or private property or resale EC that has just reached MOP of 5 months.

Hi Sir,

Once you sell your current property you can immediately buy a resale condo, resale HDB or resale EC (5 years at least). However, you would need to wait 30 months before you can buy a BTO or new EC

Hi Sir/Mdm,

In order to be eligible to apply for a new BTO or a new EC, you will need to sell off your condo and wait out a 30 months period before you are eligible to apply. This may not be the best option moving forward because there is a long waiting time to fulfill the 30 months window as well as the building time of 3 to 5 years. It would mean renting for a long period of time and the rental will be a sunk cost.

You may want to consider buying a resale HDB instead. Please feel free to contact me so that I can understand your situation better and provide you with the best options going forward.
